  • The Allen Kiwanis Club is having their 13th Annual Ron Gentry Charity Golf Tournament on October 4, 2007. This year the tournament will be played at Twin Creeks Golf Club in Allen and the registration fee will be $95. The tournament will have a "shotgun start" and begin play at 1 p.m. Four-person teams will play a best ball scramble format and there will be long drive and closest to the pin contests. Team prizes will be available for low gross and low net. There will be hole-in-one contests on all par threes.

Gold Sponsorships are available for $600 and provide golf registrations for a team of four and appropriate signage. Silver Sponsorships are available for $300 and include two golf registrations and signage. Bronze sponsorships are $150 and will include one golf registration and signage. Please contact any Allen Kiwanis member or Randy McDaniel, tournament director, at 972-855-9011 for more information.

The tournament honors former Allen Fire Department Chief and Kiwanian, Ron Gentry, who passed away in 2003. "Ron loved golf, Allen and kids, which is what Kiwanis is all about," said former Kiwanis Lt. Governor, Kris Kistner. "We felt it only appropriate to name the tournament in his honor."

The Allen Kiwanis Club donates all the proceeds for Allen H.S. scholarships, Key Club programs at the high school level, Builder’s Club in middle school, Terrific Kids in elementary schools, Special Olympics, Allen Angels, Caring for Children programs, Children’s Miracle Network, Worldwide Service Projects and more.
